298 Becky Kramr and Mary Jo Hurley: Holy Week Evangelization Mission

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Judy Comeaux visited with Becky Kramr and Mary Jo Hurley with Regnum Christi BCS to talk about their Holy Week door to door evangelization mission.  Becky and Mary Jo spoke about the ins and outs of what goes in to door to door evangelization. They spoke about the joys and trials that door to door evangelists have experienced before and what volunteers can expect when they get involved. This ministry is taking on new life in so many areas, so tune in to find out how you can get involved and help share the Good News!

297 Maria Sotolongo: Leaps of Faith

In this episode of RED-C Roundup, host Dennis Macha interviewed Maria Sotolongo, Director of Development and Admissions for St. Joseph Catholic School in Bryan, and our newest RED-C Roundup host that can be heard each second Wednesday of the month.  Dennis and Maria spoke about her life and family history and the many challenges that have come along the way, including multiple family moves, job changes, a hurricane and flooding, and a pandemic!  Maria and her husband have persevered by taking big leaps of faith together, knowing that God has a tremendous plan for their life, despite the difficult situations and trials.  Welcome to the RED-C Roundup team, Maria.  We are blessed to have you!

296 Karl Keating: 1054 and All That

In this episode of RED-C Roundup, host Deacon Mike Beauvais interviewed Karl Keating, founder and Senior Fellow of Catholic Answers, about his new book, 1054 and All That: A Lighthearted History of the Catholic Church.  As stated in the book summary, “From the first to the twenty-first century, here's all the Catholic history anyone can (or needs to) remember, with loads of laughs along the way.  Saints and sinners, popes and princes, councils and conundrums: it's all here, in a way to lighten your heart, broaden your smile, and expand your knowledge.”  Karl has always enjoyed his visits with Deacon Mike, so when this book was written, RED-C Roundup was definitely on the list of Karl Keating’s desired interviews!

 

295 Lydia Mousner and Fr. Brian Eilers: St. Joseph 150th Anniversary Celebration

On this episode of RED-C Roundup, host Judy Comeaux welcomed her guests Lydia Mousner and Fr. Brian Eilers to talk about the upcoming 150th Anniversary Celebration of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan, Texas.  The specific activities and schedule for the March 19th celebration were discussed, as was the rich history of the parish and the families that make up St. Joseph Catholic Church.

294 Fr. Brian Eilers: A Week in the Life of a Catholic Sabbatical

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Pam Marvin visited with Fr. Brian Eilers, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan, about his recent time of sabbatical.  Fr. Brian explained what a sabbatical is and what it is not, and why he chose to go on one recently for three months to the Holy Land.  Fr. Brian and Pam also discussed some stories of his time on his sabbatical, and what a week in the life of his trip looked like, including his adventures, his times of prayer, and times of self-reflection.  The conversation concluded on what the benefits of the sabbatical were for Fr. Brian, specifically how it renewed his heart as a priest and as a child of God.

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Thaddeus Romansky visited with Karl Kuykendall, author of the new book, Faith & Perseverance: The History of the Catholic Church in Central Texas.  Thaddeus and Karl discussed how his book chronicles the 275-year history of Catholicism in Central Texas and its trials and tribulations. From the inception of the Catholic Church in Central Texas in 1745 at the San Gabriel Missions to the creation of the Diocese of Austin, Faith & Perseverance: The History of the Catholic Church in Central Texas details the significant historic events that involved and impacted the Catholic Church’s development, growth, and success in the region. Comprehensive accounts of each bishop of Austin’s time in office, as well as stories of the men and women who supported them, are included in this extensive narrative.

292 Dr. Sandy Hapenney: Guiding Youth to Sexual Integrity and Abundant Life

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Deacon Mike Beauvais visited with Dr. Sandy Hapenney, Executive Life Coach and volunteer catechist in the Central Texas area. Deacon Mike and Sandy visited first about her faith, conversion, work, and family background. Sandy then spoke about her background in theology and how this has led her to multiple opportunities to share the Catholic Faith with a variety of people in a variety of settings. One of Sandy’s most recent opportunities to teach is at her local workshop entitled Guiding Youth to Sexual Integrity and Abundant Life, where she will teach students and parents about the Catholic Church’s teaching on human sexuality, especially in light of today’s confusion around gender roles and identities. More can be heard from Dr. Hapenney about sexual integrity at her local workshop, on Monday, February 6th at St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco. 

291 Maria Sotolongo and Becky Chollett: Celebrating Catholic Schools Week

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Thaddeus Romansky visited with Maria Sotolongo, Director of Development/Admission for St. Joseph Catholic School in Bryan, and Becky Chollett, Director of Enrollment Management and Communications for Bishop Louis Reicher Catholic School in Waco.  The three visited in depth about the importance of a Catholic Education, starting first at home, and also at their two Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Austin.  A general discussion was held about the values and benefits of a Catholic education at both schools. Special events and opportunities at both schools was also shared in this episode, especially in light of the upcoming Catholic Schools Week celebration.
