On Wednesday, July 25, 2018, host Pam Marvin invited back Dr. Miranda Walichowski for further conversations about the concept of root sin. Dr. Walichowski pointed people to Matt 4:3–11 and the three temptations that Jesus endured in the desert. Together they constitute the root sins of sensuality, vanity, and pride. They explained that conquering root sin depends significantly on what Pam would call good "human formation" and what Dr. Walichowski likened to "preparing for spiritual battle," i.e. hydration, proper nutrition, exercise, and sufficient sleep. Finally, both Pam and Dr. Walichowski highlighted imaginative or contemplative prayer methods as avenues for healing deep woundedness from past root sin. On Wednesday, June 20, 2018, host Pam Marvin interviewed Kristin Stravinsky, in the second half of the show about the devotional practice of home enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (the feast day was June 8). The materials and rites for an enthronement are provided and distributed by Our Lady's Blue Army. This venerable international Catholic organization arose, in response to the apparitions at Fatima, in 1947 under the direction of Msgnr. Harold Colgan. The Blue Army (officially the World Apostolate of Fatima) was only declared by the Catholic Church as a Public International Association of the Faithful in 2010. Today, there are more than 40 million members of the Apostolate worldwide. Kristin is the Apostolate's national coordinator for the home enthronement program. She and Pam discussed the prayers and actions during a typical home enthronement and how it is such a good way of "sanctifying, protecting, enhancing, and preserving marriage and family life." On Wednesday, June 13, 2018, host Gene Wilhelm interviewed College Station listener Trey Ramirez about his personal devotion to St. Padre Pio. St. Pio of Pietrelcina (1887–1968) was canonized in 2002 after a young Italian boy's miraculous cure in 2000 was established as due to to the saint's heavenly intercession. Padre Pio received the stigmata in 1918 and for the next 50 years lived in great suffering while at the same time hearing enormous numbers of confessions (even intuiting the thoughts of the reticent) and healing with his touch. Reports of the phenomenon of his bi-locating also grew apace. By the time of his death large numbers of Catholics had developed a genuine affection for the priest. This following grew prodigiously in the ensuing decades as his cause for sainthood was opened and numerous biographies and spiritual books made their way into the hands of the laity. One of these books, Padre Pio: Man of Hope, set Trey's life on a completely different track and began his own personal journey of friendship and trust in the saint. Listen as Trey talks about how Padre Pio has been a spiritual companion to him and his wife through their years of challenge and perserverance with their son's muscular disease.
