On August 29, 2017, the Feast of the Passion of St. John the Baptist, and in the wake of the destruction wrought by Hurricane Harvey across central and coastal Texas, RED-C Radio extended its heartfelt sympathy to those affected and offered its prayers. This week's program offered a chance for listeners to step away from the stress of the weekend's weather by learning about the efforts of two different Catholic artists. In the first part of the show, Cici Stevenson and Seah Schiavolin introduced listeners to the 8Beats Movie Project. A collaborative effort of Catholic filmamkers and cinematographers across the nation, it will produce short dramatic films to explain the real-life implications of living the eight Beatitudes (hence the name!). She spoke eloquently and beautifully about the freedom to love God and others gained by living in community according to her vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. She hoped that religious sisters provide an example for the laity of radical love for God that will help strengthen couples' commitment to marriage.
